Toshiba Tecra A40-C-1KF Laptop Review

toshiba_ac40

The Toshiba Tecra A40 has the performance to plow through a day of office work, along with a DVD burner and VGA port for compatibility with legacy technologies. This is rare in most modern laptops as they have almost all gotten rid of the VGA, but for some people, me included,  we would still like to see this connection still on the laptops. Ok not on all laptop but at least there should be some more models that have it.

The Toshiba Tecra A40 weighs in at 4 lbs, which the extra weight is understandable when the system includes features that the other notebooks lack, particularly its optical DVD drive.

The left edge includes an SD card for expanding the system’s internal storage, a USB 3.0 port for connecting accessories, and a DVD drive, which will come in handy for installing and running legacy software.

I would say that the Tecra A40 is a business laptop, but this does not mean it can’t be used at home. the Tecra A40 does feels sturdy, but still does not compare to other business laptop such as the Lenovo ThinkPad‘s and the Dell Latitude’s which beat it in almost very way.

But the Tecra A40 offers good enough security options to please corporate IT managers, including a built-in fingerprint reader and hardware encryption.

Verdict:

For all the Tecra A40’s high points, which are not that many, the system’s short battery life, a low screen resolution and an uncomfortable keyboard hold it back further. But it would be a good laptop as basic usage laptop or as a spare business laptop.
