MSI GL62M 7RDX

The MSI GL62M 7RDX is a slim line gaming laptop. This laptop came on sale on recently and so far is classed as a budget gaming laptop.  Which can be picked up for below $1000, depending on where you buy it. The spec is impressive for the price but some would argue that you would be better off spending more and getting a full size MSI. For the beefer version you would need to add a about $500 – $1000 to the price tag. But this slim line version with a combination of well-cooled portability and price point will still be attractive to a large group of people. As standard with any new laptop you get  Windows 10 Home, although it would be nice to see the Pro edition of windows instead.

The GL62M has the exclusive MSI “SHIFT” technology, which MSI says

‘ pushes system to the extreme while minimizing noise and temperature.’

This is done via a profile based setting by pressing FN + F7. They have 4 profiles to choose from Turbo, Sport, comfort and Eco. The process is the latest 7th generation Intel Core H series processor, which is said to be 8% faster then the last version. to most people this won’t make much of a difference but to a gamer it will make a lot difference.

You can connect 2 addition monitors to the MSI, one via the HDMI port and another via a Mini Display port, supporting 4K output. Your probably think what class this as a slim line gaming laptop, well it is only measures 1.1 inches in thickness and weighs in at  2.4 kg. Making this a good mobile gaming laptop that does not make you bag heavy. The keyboard has the standard MSI red back lit keys and feels nice to the touch. Teh speakers are something they produce a nice clear sound providing the gaming experience you need.

Depending on the sub modal you can get a range of storage options, some will give a large 1tb HDD and a 128SSD while others will have a larger SDD only up to 512Gb.

The Graphis card , NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050,  is the part of the newer generation of graphics card which bring a lot of improvement. When the card is set again the older modals such as the 950M or the 960M there is a least 30% improvement in performance. This with the rest of the spec on the laptop make it a ideal entry level gaming laptop.

Pros:

The cost would be the biggest for this type of  gaming laptop. With the size and weight coming in a close second, making it very mobile.

Cons:

The battery as with every gaming laptop. If your plugged in you have no issues. But if you are in a place without a power supply then you will have to control yourself from playing too much or reducing the setting of the laptop.

Overall:

The MSI GL62M is a very good laptop which will suit someone looking for a budget gaming laptop and at the same time being able to carry it without breaking their back. If you want a strong multimedia  laptop this will be more then enough. the speed is excellent and the performance with multiple application open is good. The speaker are loud and make it a pleasure to listen to music or the game play.
